It is a family story that great -grandfather Laurence Brown was a teacher in Germany - Hesse Darmstadt (C 1845). His sons Henry ' s official papers here ( Australia) state that Laurence and Marguerite ( nee Hammond ) had a son Henry in Hesse Darmstadt in October of 1845th They are supposed to have had older children - boys - who went on to America where they were piano makers. (Not proven ) Henry ' s Obituary states he went to America where he spent his youth on the Mississippi River boats. Is there anyone out there who has the same great grandparents ? How would I look for Laurence Brown, a teacher in Hesse Darmstadt? Your advice and help will be gratefully received in the good faith.
